The Roadmap

Roadmap to Reclaiming Glory

We give credit where it's due. The outgoing regime has done what it can. We are taking things to the next level. The sky is the limit — we will conquer the troposphere, then the stratosphere. Any gains that impact our members positively is a win.

Phase 1Month 1-6

Foundation & Local CBA

  • Lasting solution to delayed salaries and statutory deduction remittances — this directly affects the welfare of our members and deserves urgent attention
  • Active engagement with management and active involvement in placement of said management
  • Launch Local CBA negotiations: housing allowance, commuter allowance, and all member entitlements. LOCAL CBA MUST WORK.
Phase 2Month 4-10

Digital Infrastructure

  • Deploy Benefits Simulator so members can compare and contrast with management computations
  • Launch Member Tracker with promotion tracking and interview notifications — no more missing promotions because one missed a call
  • Timely notifications on compliance matters especially where benefits like commuter allowance are at stake
Phase 3Month 8-16

Workload & Compliance

  • Harmonisation of workload — a major item requiring the union’s voice to be heard and obeyed in matters of equity and equality
  • Compliance with regulator guidelines: staff establishment plans require urgent revision and alignment with regulator guidelines on promotion
  • Ensure policies that best represent the welfare of members are the ones members are subjected to
Phase 4Month 12-24

Reclaiming Our Glory

  • Reclaim JKUAT’s position as the base model of benchmarking for best practice across Kenya and beyond
  • Establish social welfare kitty, staff motivational fund, and linkages with stakeholders and opportunities
  • Infrastructure improvements: office spaces, classrooms, boardrooms, and lavatories for a healthy work environment

The Disruptive Agenda

The Digital Shift

For us to achieve anything meaningful, we need a rapidly disruptive agenda to transcend the current old into new echelons. There is nothing as disruptive as technology and digitization. Out with old analogue systems, in with the new digital systems.
